Camping on Stumpy Meadows Reservoir
/Stumpy Meadows Campground
Stumpy Meadows, on the Eldorado National Forest, is located in the central Sierra Nevadas. The forest is located within 3 - 4 hours driving time from the San Francisco Bay Area and 1 – 1 ½ hours driving time from Sacramento. A Mediterranean type climate extends over most of the Forest with warm, dry summers and cold, wet winters.
Stumpy Meadows Campground is located just 17 miles east of Georgetown on Wentworth Springs Road. Predominant activities are fishing, boating, and swimming. There are 40 camping sites with paved or graveled roads and spurs. Most of the sites are within a few hundred yards of the lake. Sites are secluded and rustic. The area is a great place to find peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The season generally runs from mid-April through mid- to late October, depending on snowfall. A nearby boat ramp provides access to the lake.
