Orionid Meteor Shower is peaking!

"When the Orionid meteor shower reaches its peak Friday morning (Oct. 21), the waning gibbous moon (more than half of its surface illuminated) will be in the sky almost all night long. Hence, its glare will severely hamper observations in 2016." Space.com

Meteors seem to fan out from an area north of the Orion constellation.  These shooting stars are caused when earth passes through debris from Halley's Comet.  About 20 meteors per hour are expected to be visible in the early hours before dawn on Oct 21, 2016.

Forest campgrounds are a safe place to watch a dark sky away from the urban light pollution.
