Baker Beach Campground is a small equestrian area with only 5 campsites. It has a good-sized day use parking area for hikers who want to access the sandy beach for the day. There is a fee to park or display one of the accepted day use passes on your dashboard. Please do not park in a campsite for day use.
Baker Beach is a protected area for snowy plover nesting. Dogs must be leashed and horses and hikers must stay on the trail until you get to the wet sand. If the plovers detect danger they will leave the nest to draw predators away from their young. But that, obviously, leaves their young vulnerable to crows and other predators.
Baker Beach is a remote campground without drinking water. There is one vault toilet which is cared for, year-round, by the Campground Host in either Alder Dune or Sutton Campground. You may also purchase firewood at Alder Dune Campground; just about a mile south of Baker Beach.
There is no garbage service here; pack it in , pack it out so it does not attract critters (mice to skunks to bears).
