Trying to decide between camping for the 4th of July or shooting fireworks may be making a choice of which family tradition you'll follow. Because of the fire danger associated with fireworks, they are prohibited on most, if not all, public lands in the United States.

However, you may be able to find fireworks shows just a short driving or boating distance from your campground. Large lakes often have communities who take donations to fund a fireworks show put on by local fire departments.

Pet owners, please do not leave your pet alone in the campground when you go to watch fireworks. If they can hear the fireworks, they will be more frightened without you.
